Theater II and III: Paint by Numbers Outline

Theater II/III assignment:

In groups today, you will start (and possibly complete!) your Paint by Numbers story outline.

Outlines must include:
  1. Setting, hero, villain, problem and solution.
  2. At least FIVE (5) events.  Please include all characters involved in each event, as well as any other important details.
You do not need to include specific dialogue.

Outlines are due in class on Tuesday, September 1.

Theater I: Neighborhood Map

In Theater I:

We are continuing our introduction to theater and the art of storytelling.  I keep repeating that storytelling is one of the earliest forms of theater.  Human beings have been sharing their history, their ideas, their failures and their successes through storytelling throughout history!

Neighborhood Map Assignment (1o points total)
Due Tuesday, September 1
Students will draw a map of their favorite or current neighborhood on construction paper or the paper provided.  The map must include the following:

  1. Labels: Everything on the map must be labeled, i.e. "My house," "Cedar Street," "a mean dog that chased me as a kid," etc.  Even if you don't know the neighbors down the street, you probably know SOMETHING about them -- "house with noisy kids" will do.
  2. Color: Your map must use color!  Crayons, markers, colored pencils, colored pens, highlighters are all items that draw and write in color.  Please use them!
  3. Detail: Add as much detail to your map as you can remember.  The pond, the fence, the car that was always parked on the street... Whatever you remember, please draw it! (And label it... and color it... )
All Theater I assignments must be labeled with:

Student Name

First Week of School!

Hi all Theater students!

Thanks for surviving the first day without me, and for being such a welcoming group upon my return!

Here's the NEED-TO-KNOW for this week:

1. Theater I & II students are required to bring in their JOURNALS by Monday, August 31.  You'll be using this journal every day in class.  It should be a portfolio folder with the capability to hold 3-hole punched paper, marked clearly with your NAME, your CLASS PERIOD, and THEATRE.  Please make sure to supply it with some notebook paper!

2. ALL Theater students are required to have their Classroom Management Plan signature pages signed and dated by a parent/guardian, and return them to me by Monday, August 31.  Please don't forget!

Thanks again, and stay posted for more information!
